for Handicapped son

My son is 44 and is mentally handicapped and is hooked on electric. He talks and writes electrical substations and tall wires. He wanted a book that showed substations and electrical housing so I saw this and ordered it, he had it under the Christmas tree from Santa, He saw it and opened it and sat there and cried. He keeps it on his desk open to the picture he likes best. Thank you for making this book, you will never know the happiness it gave someone.

Extraordinarily inspiring and touching

This is an amazing read for those interested in Buddhism, and its travels from East to West. It also put into context the search of many as Lama Ole and Hannah Nydahl for an experience of mind, of something beyond the ordinary lives of these Western generations. It is an endless source of inspiration for it allows us as westerners to see a more down to earth, yet majestic and extraordinary approach to the Buddhist teachings from a yogi perspective. And gives hope for the further development of Buddhism, in particular Tibetan Buddhism in the West as we learn about its firs steps towards the West.

essence of modern buddism

Must-have reading for all who wants to know basics of Buddhism, especially Diamond Way Buddhism point of view. Stripped down from cultural traces, pure Buddha's teachings from lama (Buddhist teacher) who meditates 35 years. Was easy to read for me, should be fairly easy for most of you, as Ole says it contains 7 levels of techings. Happy reading!

Paul D. Weaver, originally hailing from Columbus, IN is the Director as well as a Professor of Bible and Theology at the Word of Life Bible Institute in T�alm�s, Hungary. An excellent resource for new and mature Christians in understanding the Old Testament books

I found this e-book to be quite informative in bringing clarity to the Old Testament books. It is written in a way that locks events into a more understood dimension, while not losing the reader to excessive detail. To help with understanding each book there are charts, pictures, and outlines that can be used along side ones Bible. Author, Bible teacher, and Dean Paul D. Weaver has used his scholarly ability in producing this excellent resource.

I enjoyed writing in my Bible word meanings, dates, and other things that this book brought to my attention. Though I have been a Christian for over 30 years there was still much I did not know in the Old Testament. It is written scholarly in that, while key information was presented, it was done in a fashion that even new Christians could grasp.

This is not a work to rush through but to allow oneself to immerse in the quality of information presented, possibly with one's Bible alongside. Each book has predictable categories covered including:
– Title
– Author
– Documentary hypothesis
– Recipients
– Date and place
– Purpose
– Message
– Theology

This will be a resource one can refer to over and over. It includes archaeological discoveries throughout with an easy to find table with links in the front of the book. For the quality of content and easy readability I give this work a five star rating.

"thorough but concise"

"thorough but concise" is an entirely accurate description for this work. Felt it was a good value for the price. Here's how I used it: I had already read the Wisdom books, and was moving into the books of the Old Testament prophets. This book provided a nice background, as advertised, introducing each book for the layman. Though I would have liked more info, I was not disappointed in any way by the amount of information provided.

An excellent resource for those wishing serious study into the Old Testament books.

Most commentaries are either too academic for the average home bible student / Sunday School teacher to understand or too simplistic for the pastor or academic scholar to find useful. Paul Weaver has struck the balance between those two styles and produced an Old Testament survey textbook that is beneficial for those at both ends of the spectrum. He's dug deep as an academician to find the relevant notes that will help a Sunday School teacher grasp the purpose, author, audience, and arrangement of each book in the Old Testament. The academic notes he does provide are useful for understanding how and why each book is relevant for Christians today. Yet, it's also filled with enough academic explanations, treatments of disagreements and textual issues that a bible college student will also find find adequate material to use as reference for a class paper.

The only weakness I find with this version (I'm using the Kindle version on an iPad) is some of the graphs and charts included in the text become distorted when enlarged to actually read. A chart with the family of Abraham in the Genesis chapter covers over a little of the text in the Kindle version and is unreadable if enlarged to actually read it. Most of the other charts I tried to enlarge were readable, if a little fuzzy.

That minor issue, that could be fixed in an update, isn't enough to keep me from giving this book five stars. I'd suggest every bible study student, whether serious or just exploring, add this to their shelf of bible study tools. I'm recommending this to my volunteer Sunday school teachers and pastor friends as a book I believe will be valuable for all who seek to get a solid exegetical background on Old Testament books whether they're studying for their own personal growth or to present a lesson or sermon to others.

Geronimo Learns to Overcome His Fears . . . Sometimes Too Well!

In Cat and Mouse in a Haunted House, we learned that Geronimo Stilton is afraid of cats . . . and things that go bump in the night. In Four Mice Deep in the Jungle, Geronimo's fear list has expanded to include leaving his home. How will The Rodent's Gazette operate without him?

Geronimo knows he has a problem and seeks help from Dr. Shrinkfur by telling his troubles while lying on a soft cat-fur couch. Dr. Shrinkfur sensibly observes that solving the fears is up to Geronimo.

After building his courage overnight, Geronimo goes downstairs and starts off for work. And everything bad that can happen occurs in the next 30 seconds!

That's it. Will Geronimo ever leave home again? Yes, if his sister Thea has anything to do with it. Thea, cousin Trap, and favorite nephew Benjamin team up to mouse-nap Geronimo for an undisclosed location. Along the way, Geronimo is able to take his minds off his troubles by eating lots of delicious cheesy chews and meeting the lovely Penelope Poisonfur, who just happens to have the next seat on a flight to someplace far away.

Flattered by Penelope's interest in him, Geronimo signs a paper she thrusts in front of him. Suddenly, he finds that he has to follow her orders at a survival school . . . or pay one million dollars. Since he doesn't have that kind of money, Geronimo is stuck.

Over seven days, he starts days off chillingly and faces many of his worst fears. Strangely, he feels better after each episode.

This book is in the best tradition of slapstick comedy and has a nice sex role reversal in making the female mice mentally and emotionally stronger than the male mice.

If your youngster has an occasional fear or two, it will be a relief so see that Geronimo is much worse . . . yet can be helped. It's a nice soft sell for learning to overcome your fears by facing up to them. Very nice!

Four Mice Deep Of The Jungle is about a mouse named Geronimo Stilton. He is afraid of everything. So then his sister named Thea told a girl mice who was Geronimo's #1 fan of Geronimo's books, to trick him into signing a contract saying that he would attend a camp of having to do everything that he was afraid of. So he signed the contract. He did not know what it was for. The girl had told him that it was just going to be his autograph that she wanted. So Geronimo loved he thought that she was so pretty he did not even read one word that was on the contract. So when he got on the airplane and headed to the jungle where the camp was going to be held at. He didn't know that he was going to go to camp. So when he got there he was so freaked out that he could not say anything except for yelling. Then Thea and the pretty lady put him in the room. So then the next day he had to do all the things that he was afraid of. Read the rest of the book to find out what happened next!!!

Very informative

A very easy to read, short guide that summarizes this field of engineering. My only wish is that the book would include more articles from Biomedical Engineers and articles written about Biomedical Engineering to give a more thorough description of the daily routine and actual projects assigned to engineers. It would also be helpful to know what specific job opportunities are available for Biomedical Engineers with Bachelor degrees versus Graduate degrees.
