Emiliano Zapata!: Revolution and Betrayal in Mexico, by Samuel Brunk

The life of Mexican Revolutionary Emiliano Zapata was the stuff that legends are made of. Born and raised in a tiny village in the small south-central state of Morelos, he led an uprising in 1911--one strand of the larger Mexican Revolution--against the regime of long-time president Porfirio Daz. He fought not to fulfill personal ambitions, but for the campesinos of Morelos, whose rights were being systematically ignored in Don Porfirio's courts.

Expanding haciendas had been appropriating land and water for centuries in the state, but as the twentieth century began things were becoming desperate. It was not long before Daz fell. But Zapata then discovered that other national leaders--Francisco Madero, Victoriano Huerta, and Venustiano Carranza--would not put things right, and so he fought them too. He fought for nearly a decade until, in 1919, he was gunned down in an ambush at the hacienda Chinameca.

In this new political biography of Zapata, Brunk, noted journalist and scholar, shows us Zapata the leader as opposed to Zapata the archetypal peasant revolutionary. In previous writings on Zapata, the movement is covered and Zapata the man gets lost in the shuffle. Brunk clearly demonstrates that Zapata's choices and actions did indeed have an historical impact.

From Library Journal
In this scholarly study of Zapata, journalist and scholar Brunk emphasizes aspects of personal leadership over the revolutionary movement as a whole. Brunk portrays a man whose legendary status has helped obscure the facts. From the formative years until his death by ambush in 1919, Zapata is depicted as a man unwaveringly committed to basic land reform and social justice for the peasants of his native state of Morelos. Zapata is not, however, idealized: his inability (or refusal) to control the brutal excesses of subordinate chieftains often resulted in bad press at home and abroad, much to the detriment of his credibility. Likewise, coalitions formed with other major revolutionary leaders (notably Pancho Villa)? essential to any hope of success?were always tenuous and fraught with potential treachery, given the vast array of personal and ideological elements in play. A well-documented, readable work; recommended for serious students of the topic.?Charles E. Perry, East Central Univ., Ada, Okla.

From the Inside Flap
This clearly written and carefully argued narrative presents a less mythical and more human Zapata against the dramatic and chaotic background of the Mexican Revolution.

A Great Political Life, Despite Some Criticism
By Dennis R. Hidalgo
The book centers on how the personal life of Emiliano Zapata intermingled with his revolutionary movement during the high point of the Mexican Revolution: 1910-1919. The events and historical period the book covers are hardly new to scholarly review. In his book Brunk is standing on ground elevated by previous work- particularly by John Womack's Zapata and the Mexican Revolution. Still, from this advantageous position Brunk decided to focus his attention on the personal details of Zapata and give us a fresh political biography.
This book sadly misses the opportunity to examine the cultural dimension of Zapata's life and achievements. Starting with his beginning, Brunk totally ignores the religious attribute intrinsic in the culture of south/central Mexico - which he later admits it had. Indeed, he only mentions the word church when referring to how a village offered a strategic position from the tower of the church. When referring to the machismo culture and Zapata's relationships with females, he could have linked gender issues to Zapata's revolution. When he touched on the regionalist tendencies of Zapatismo, he could have compared one region against the other in greater details as to illuminate why regionalism was such a strong force. There were several questions that their answers could have enriched his research. How did religion influence the motivation of Zapatistas? What was the reaction of local priest and other members of the clergy, to Zapata's actions, and what type of relationship they had? What role did women play in Zapata's movement? How did the fatalism of machismo influence the outcome of the events? If the Guerreros were not as motivated for land reform as the Morelos were, what other motivations led them to follow Zapata? What role did Indians had within or against Zapatismo?
Brunk seems too concern at portraying Zapata as a benign leader, and worthy of idolization. While describing his childhood, he rarely criticizes the tradition as a source (with one important exemption), but it tends to place it at the center of the description. The book also has an inclination to smooth out Zapata's rough characteristics. Indeed, when there is someone to falter, there are always many candidates that are not Zapata. And when there is no way that Zapata can escape guilt, masterfully, Brunk explains out the reasons in a way that everything seems inevitable and the reader may sympathize with Zapata. The more obvious example, probably, is when a spirit of paranoia invaded the Zapata's camp, and he is not able to control it. At this moment Brunk chose to emphasize the doings of others, and when there was reference to Zapata's behavior, Brunk always did it with a compassionated tone and explaining that most convictions were done with lots of regrets. Furthermore, Zapata is presented as fair when he decided not to punish, and when he decided to punish, regardless that the cases were very similar and that the motivation for change appears to be related to mood swings more than any other factors. Undoubtedly, this book falls short of a complete description of the Mexican Revolution. This was not the intention of the book. However, the reader may gather the wrong impression of the Mexican Revolution by following the logic of the book. In many occasions the author clearly placed Zapatismo as the Revolution, and yet, in other parts he moved to explain how it was only a strand of a larger movement. This seemingly contradiction is not an isolated element. When Brunk tells about the differences on Villa and Zapata, and how that influenced the outcome of their relationship, he vacillates to use more unambiguous terms. To those fond of the scientific historical perspective and of empirical data, this book may prove a disappointment.
What this book does is to allow the reader to appreciate the Mexican Revolution, and more specifically, Zapatismo, from the personal life of Zapata. The emphasis on Zapata's life is more on his relationships to his subordinates and enemies, and this focus brings a totally new perspective into the matter. It seems that by getting close to Zapata's leadership Brunk gained an edge in understanding Zapata. By the constant use of the word "perhaps" one can assume that Brunk commonly relies on his intuition cultivated by years of personal acquaintance with the original sources leading to Zapata.
Through Brunk's style the reader may appreciate the influence of personalities and how power conflict influenced the Revolution and its southern strand: Zapatismo. Through this book the reader may appreciate how the unfolding of personal interaction determined the relationship between Zapata and his intellectuals. In explaining internal conflicts within Zapatismo, Brunk clearly understands how the rural people related to each other and how that differed from those coming from the city: in the country they looked in the eye, in the city they thought in terms of systems. (126) When returning to Morelos, Brunk describes a lively Zapata, full of energy as he makes his leadership, once again, dependent on his charisma and personality. Brunk also brilliantly explains how the concept of justice was more a personal matter to Zapata and how it evolved out of his relationship to others. And finally, Brunk takes the reader to Zapata's vacillation before going toward Jesus Guajardo; how he knew that he was gambling his live by doing so. This inside view into Zapata's political and military world could not be achieved without Brunk's emphasis on Zapata's personal relationships. At the end the reader may agree with Brunk in that brutality, pain, and personalism "formed an integral part of the Revolution, without which could not be understood." (238) There is no doubt that Brunk employed contemporary research and advanced analytical skills to study the political life of Zapata. Yet, he departs a little from the overly skeptic attitude of some current scholars who avoid personal worship and prefer a more depressing view of life. According to Brunk, then, the Revolution was indeed a revolution, and Zapatismo was a peasant's revolution with clear political and social significance.

Zapata The Demon?
By Salamis
Emiliano Zapata is a legendary and controversial figure in Mexican history. One of the many persons who have been intrigued by Zapata's mythical persona has been Samuel Brunk. Brunk first conducted his comprehensive research on Zapata while he was a graduate student at the University of New Mexico. Brunk's current research deals with certain aspects of Zapata not covered in this book, mainly with the accuracy of the cultural and political myth ascribed to Zapata since his death. Brunk currently teaches at the University of Texas at El Paso. His area of expertise is twentieth century Mexican history.
Brunk states that "the primary goal of the book is to provide a . . . political biography of Zapata, and to demonstrate . . . That his choices and actions . . . [had] a historical impact." Brunk portrays Zapata as a man with utopian ideals who is plagued by personal faults. He contends that Zapata, or more precisely, Zapatisimo had, and has had, an enduring effect on th Mexican conscience and psyche. His work, over a third of which is composed of notes and references, is well researched. Brunk utilizes oral interviews, anthropological data, and newspaper and archival documents (many of which had been recently released) to develop his thesis.
Although Brunk does a wonderful job in compiling information to narrate his thesis, there are a few aspects to the book that are disappointing. For instance, the back of the book and the introduction claim that Brunk's depicture of Zapatisimo humanizes the Zapatisimo legacy by recanting the brutality and banditry that surrounded the movement. This controversial depicture (controversial because most previous historians and scholars who have written on Zapata have minimized or left out claims of the movement's cruelty) that was promised, however, never genuinely materializes in the pages of the book. To be sure, Brunk does give attention to the banditry that occurred during the Zapata movement, however, Brunk downplays the criminal activity conducted by Zapatistas as isolated or justified occurrences. This is rather unfortunate, not because it overly influenced his work (this does not seem to be the case). But because the promotional description of the book does not accurately apply. A prospective consumer looking forward to reading book that demonizes Zapata might be led astray by the controversial advertisement. Brunk's book only mildly describes the Zapatistas as crooks and thugs. To be fair though, some reviewers seemed satisfied with Brunk's work in illuminating Zapata's unethical activities.
Going beyond what may be construed as a misleading description of the book, Brunk offers the reader a thorough account of the situation Zapata was facing during the 1910s. Overall, this is an enjoyable book, however, at times the book's readability is rough and course. Brunk's recreation of the constitutional convention is a clear example of this. It was dull, deliberate and repetitive. On the positive side, the remaining sections of the book, particularly his description on the early days of Zapatisimo, were well written. Perhaps the most pointed and painful critique, however, comes from experts in the field. John Womack, author of Zapata and the Mexican Revolution and Harvard professor, concluded that Brunk had missed "a chance for a major contribution to scholarship" in light of all the new material available to him.
Notwithstanding the rather disappointing aspects to the book, it is still a book worth reading. Brunk does an excellent job depicting the shifting coalitions between the various factions of the revolution. Indeed, it would not be far fetched to suggest that Brunk's depiction of the various coalitions immensely helps the reader understand the difficulties that confronted the US in its first war of the 21st Century.

Fast reading but a distanced perspective
By A Customer
You may need a glossary for this book if you're not familiar with such terms as ejido or hacendado. I highly reccomend doing some preparation reading on the mexican revolution before starting this book. Be advised, a third of this book is notes and references! The author does a good job of showing how Zapata remained committed to his cause while many around him were traitors. The author provides factual accounts with little embelishing or unsupported speculation. This book is a must-have for those who are interested in the real Zapata.

Becoming Lil' Mandy (Eden Series Book 1), by Elsa Black

"My desire to dominate isn’t unlike your desire to submit. But my desire to dominate is stronger than what most partners are willing to allow. I’m one of those rare men who want to not just correct and train, but to coddle, guide and control. I require a deep submission – the ultimate submission. I desire a woman who can fall back into that purest trusting state, that age of perfect innocence when her Papa was her whole wide world. I want a woman whose dependence is total – from the time I wake her up to the time I put her to bed. That level of care? That, sweet Mandy, is my calling. And for all my wealth – and it is substantial – I will not feel truly rich until I find the woman strong enough to put herself in my care.”

Amanda Wingate is the failed product of what should have been a charmed life. Adopted into a family of wealth where she wasn't truly wanted, her desire for paternal acceptance made her prey to a dominant man whose betrayal landed her in prison.

When she is selected for a program designed to reform non-violent prisoners, she has no idea that the backers are actually a group of powerful men who select women for clients looking for Little Ones to train and claim as their own.

Ethan Sharp has everything - looks, wealth and a successful business. What he lacks is the connection he has given up finding among women in his social circle. When he is directed to the Eden Institute, he believes he has found the answer.

But will his pairing with the emotionally vulnerable Amanda Wingate be successful? Ethan is eager to earn her ultimate submission. And with the help of a stern nanny, he begins the loving and sensual task of transforming Amanda into Mandy through equal measures of spankings and sexual submission, which includes making her submit parts of herself she never thought possible. Can her journey into deep submission heal Amanda's heart and give her the security that's eluded her all her life?

"Becoming Lil' Mandy" is a story told against the backdrop of the Eden Institute, which features interplay with other couples in a lifestyle that's become a source of literary fascination for thousands of readers who enjoy tales of intense submission.

Great Age Play
By Amazon Customer
This is a great Age Play story. Amanda was betrayed by her ex and is sent to prison. She was offered a way out with the Eden institute, and reluctantly accepts. After coming to the institute she meets her new daddy Ethan, who is firm but quite loving. I like the marble idea used in this story, it was catchy and something that worked for them. I personally don't care for nanny involvement, but I do see the appeal for others. This story has quickly become a favorite of mine and I would love to see more work from this author.

Modern story with Victorian Feel
By Katy Beth
This is a modern story with a Victorian feel. Amanda is in trouble and all alone. The Eden project is really her only hope. While there is a bit of dubious consent because really what choice does she have it still from the beginning has the feel that everything is really for her best interest. Ethan really seems to have feelings for her from the beginning and is willing to do what ever is best for her to help her be a better person. I love how their relationship develops and how she is allowed to explore who she is and remain safe. It seems that there are more stories lurking at the Eden project and hope they develop.

Age play with a twist!
By Olivia Paige Dahl
I have only read a few books of this genre with age play and submission involved. This is one of the better stories that involve medical play as well, and interaction with other characters. Both main characters learn their way through the love and the punishment that goes along with being a Little and a Daddy. Would highly recommend this book.

More Happy Than Not, by Adam Silvera

In his twisty, gritty, profoundly moving New York Times bestselling-debut—also called “mandatory reading” and selected as an Editors' Choice by the New York Times—Adam Silvera brings to life a charged, dangerous near-future summer in the Bronx.

In the months after his father's suicide, it's been tough for sixteen-year-old Aaron Soto to find happiness again—but he's still gunning for it. With the support of his girlfriend Genevieve and his overworked mom, he's slowly remembering what that might feel like. But grief and the smile-shaped scar on his wrist prevent him from forgetting completely.

When Genevieve leaves for a couple of weeks, Aaron spends all his time hanging out with this new guy, Thomas. Aaron's crew notices, and they're not exactly thrilled. But Aaron can't deny the happiness Thomas brings or how Thomas makes him feel safe from himself, despite the tensions their friendship is stirring with his girlfriend and friends. Since Aaron can't stay away from Thomas or turn off his newfound feelings for him, he considers turning to the Leteo Institute's revolutionary memory-alteration procedure to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he truly is.

Why does happiness have to be so hard?

“Silvera managed to leave me smiling after totally breaking my heart. Unforgettable.”

"Adam Silvera explores the inner workings of a painful world and he delivers this with heartfelt honesty and a courageous, confident hand . . . A mesmerizing, unforgettable tour de force."

From School Library Journal
Gr 9 Up—Debut author Silvera pulls readers into the gritty, (near-future) Bronx world of 16-year-old Puerto Rican, Aaron Soto, with a milieu of tight-knit, sometimes dysfunctional relationships. Aaron struggles to find happiness despite the presence of his mother, older brother, and girlfriend, as well as a set of childhood buddies and a new, intriguing friend, Thomas. He is haunted by painful physical and emotional scars: the memory of his father's suicide in their home, his own similar failed attempt with its resulting smiley face scar, not to mention his family's poverty and his personal angst at an increasingly strong attraction for Thomas. This first-person narrative raises ethical, societal, and personal questions about happiness, the ability to choose to eradicate difficult memories (through a scientific procedure), and gender identity. The protagonist is as honest with readers as he is able to be, and it is only after Aaron is brutally beaten by friends attempting to set him "straight," that he remembers the entirety of his life story through shocking, snapshotlike revelations. More surprising is the knowledge that his family and girlfriend have known his backstory all along. VERDICT A gripping read-Silvera skillfully weaves together many divergent young adult themes within an engrossing, intense narrative.—Ruth Quiroa, National Louis University, IL

Ingenious."

Outstanding
By Lucky Clucker
This was a phenomenal page-turner of a book. When I read the book jacket I was a little concerned about the similarity to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (or whatever the exact title). Anyhow, right from the beginning you can sense this is going to be much edgier and the protagonist's aim is far more complex and gut-wrenching than forgetting a failed relationship.

Anyhow, I was captivated by Silvera's writing from the very first page. I had to stop reading frequently by the end because I could not stop weeping every few pages. This is a painful book. Something about the almost carefree first-person narration makes it even more painful by the end. Something about the way the young people in the book look at every minor bump in the road as a tragedy or huge event (first time you have sex, fighting with your siblings, growing away from your close friends) is really brought into focus when an actual tragedy occurs.

I think the characterization of this book as gay/lesbian literature is too narrow. This is a profoundly affecting work about the human condition and it is exceptionally beautifully conceived.

This book is my contender for best book of 2015 so far. If you are in a happy place, read it. If you're feeling kind of low then you should have a pizza, watch some I Love Lucy, and wait until you're happier before tackling it. Bravo Mr. Silvera!

Amazing debut from Silvera
By barry
When a true artist writes a novel it is amazing to see the true magic that appears. And that is what happens here with MORE HAPPY THAN NOT the magical and truly heartfelt debut from Adam Silvera. This novel is also so hard to classify. Is it a gay novel? No it is a novel where being gay is a part of the huge story being told. Finally someone strong enough to write a novel where gay doesn't have to jump at you, be stressed as a major theme etc. even as the main character himself struggles with it. The other complexity is that this is described a s a young adult novel and I say nope, it is a novel for people of all ages. I am 53 and devoured it and the mastery of the mind that Silvera possesses.

A simple life is shown for main character Aaron. He is not really happy, not really troubled. He is existing. He has a supportive girlfriend, nonexistent brother and very busy mother. His life has had trauma including the suicide of his father. But then something happens. Aaron meets Thomas and finally someone gets him. he can be himself in a way he never could before. And along with this comes feelings, emotions and obsession. And Aaron's old life isn't too welcoming of his new special friend. And Thomas really seems to bring out the true Aaron and that is a gay Aaron. But all the problems that come with it make Aaron want to make it go away, sadly. And the Leteo Institute can help with that.

And that is enough of the plot for what this novel is about is the true magical realities of life. Emotions glow and shine here jumping off the page. The characters are so real and believable the reader can't help but get fully drawn into all the worlds that encompass Aaron. And Aaron himself is a magical being. It is a true honor to follow him on his journey of self discovery, fully allowing himself to identify all the parts of himself from his interests to desires. Huge kudos to Silvera. He presents here a truly special masterpiece of literary work that all can enjoy. It is about life and being true to ones self. And the imagination that Silvera possesses adds layers and layers of searing wonder to an already special story. Highly recommend and can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Fantastic Debut
By April
There are some books that just leave you feeling breathless and a little bit drained after finishing them. Debut author Adam Silvera has hit me hard in the emotions with his book More Happy Than Not. Talk about a book that packs a punch. Silvera’s debut is heartfelt and honest. It may have a concept that is slightly similar to Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind however, I felt like More Happy Than Not was a wholly original read. I felt as though this was not a story that I’ve read before. You know how some books can feel like the same story over and over again? That was absolutely not the case with this book. After finishing the very last line, I find myself eager to read whatever Silvera comes out with next.

Aaron Soto is a poor Hispanic kid who lives in the Bronx projects in a one bedroom apartment with his mother and brother, Eric. Aaron has a girlfriend, Genevive who is patient with him and caring and overall wonderful. He’s got some friends who are okay but honestly, not as supportive as they could be. Aaron lives his life the best that he can — he’s happy now in a sense, but certain things still bother him. For instance, the absence of his father, who committed suicide last year. Aaron has mostly good memories of his dad, who sure was more into athletics and was distant from Aaron. Still, he misses his dad. Aaron is afraid that he will commit suicide like his dad.

His happiness begins to change and get better when he meets this kid from another project named Thomas. Thomas has these crazy eyebrows but he gets Aaron. And so, the two form this amazing friendship bond over movies on Thomas’s rooftop and long conversations. Unfortunately, Aaron’s friends and his girlfriend begin to get resentful of his friendship with Thomas. Aaron also begins to question his sexuality. Meanwhile, there is this procedure that is all the rage being performed by the Leteo Institute where these doctors are able to extract and bury memories which seems like a legitimate solution to Aaron for his issue — forget that he is actually gay and just be straight. However, this may be out of reach for Aaron given that he’s a poor kid and the procedure is rather expensive.

I feel like I know Aaron Soto intimately, as though he is one of my best friends. More Happy Than Not is a book with solid characterization. I challenge you to read this book and to not empathize the entire time with Aaron. I thought the intersection of Aaron’s race, class, and sexuality was fascinating. He’s dealing with these different characteristics and challenges head on. I mean, I think that the experience of a white middle class gay person is different from the experience of a non-white poor person. And so, I thought this made Aaron’s character journey compelling. I also liked that Aaron was a comic book fan who loves fantasy and drawing. I liked that this unique touch was consistently revived throughout the book. Silvera doesn’t just add in a characteristic and then forget about it. Instead, every word and every characteristic counts.

The Leteo procedure is perhaps the biggest theme aside from sexuality in Adam Silvera’s debut. Throughout the book we get to see Aaron deeply consider and question the procedure. He wants it and then he doesn’t. And then it seems like the perfect solution and then it doesn’t. We learn about his friend who had the procedure to forget his twin brother who was murdered and how his friend had to move because he could not be triggered with those memories of his brother. It’s absolutely fascinating and philosophical to boot. There’s so much to discuss and think about in regards to the Leteo procedure that I think this book would make a perfect discussion piece for your local young adult book club.

Setting feels like a character in Silvera’s More Happy Than Not. Set in the Bronx, you get the feel of a large city and the close knit neighborhood within. I feel as though I know Aaron and all of his friends. I feel as though I’ve walked the streets of his project after reading. It’s like I’ve taken the subway with Soto. I love that feeling. I love that I know all about the bodega Aaron works in under his boss, Mohad. I love that I know the comic book store that Aaron loves to spend his time in as well as the track that he enjoys running and holding conversations on. Silvera has brought the Bronx to life in More Happy Than Not.

I am slightly in shock over how much I enjoyed and took away from Silvera’s debut. There is a big twist. When it happened, I had to put the book down and breathe for a few minutes. Then I needed to talk to someone and explain what just happened because it just blew my mind. If you are looking for a book to blow your mind and make you feel all sorts of emotions, order yourself a copy of More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera.

Strategic Air Power in Desert Storm (Studies in Air Power), by John Andreas Olsen

In response to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on thesecond ofAugust 1990, a small group of air power advocates in the Pentagon proposed a strategic air campaign - "Operation Desert Storm" designed to drive the Iraqi army from Kuwait by a sustained effort against the major sources of Iraqi national power. John Andreas Olsen provides a coherent and comprehensive examination of the origins, evolution and implementation of this campaign. His findings derive from official military and political documentation, interviews with United States Air Force officers who were closely involved with the planning of the campaign and Iraqis with detailed knowledge and experience of the inner workings of the Iraqi regime.

Very fine study of the 1991 strategic air campaign
By Koba
This is a study of the strategic air campaign in Desert Storm that is based on the author's academic thesis. It was written in the late 1990s and thus does not reflect the experiences of the Iraq War after 2003. The discussion of the planning of the strategic air campaign is excellent. He covers a lot of the same ground in his subsequent book on John Warden, and of course the essential work on the planning of the Desert Storm air campaign remains Diane Putney's "Airpower Advantage".

Perhaps even more useful is the analysis of the Iraqi power structure. The purpose of this analysis was to show why the strategic air campaign failed to decapitate the regime or destabilize it so that Saddam could be overthrown internally. I have not seen anything like that analysis anywhere else. I suspect that nobody in Washington read this analysis before we invaded in 2003, which was too bad, because the planning and execution of "Iraqi Freedom" could certainly have benefited from it.

I got this book from a library. I don't think I want to pay the crazy amounts of money they want for it new ($50 to $100 or $200). If you can get it used for under $20, that is probably reasonable in my opinion.

This is how they were born to live; bound in the reigns of a little thing called time.

Great read

Beautifully written. Made me super nostalgic at times. So much insight to the young mind and how they see the world through their eyes...

Reads like a draft with much room to improve.
By Josh D.
I don't believe the Kindle version varies from paper but there is plenty of white space. Enough to elaborate more on potentially riveting memoirs. Normally, the shorter the work, the more impactful each word (and even punctuation) becomes, and there is just not much of that here. Simply put, I couldn't find much depth in this poetry chapbook.

Whilst the initial implementation of virtualization can be traced back to IBM in the 1960s, there is no denying the fact that virtualization is only now taking the information technology industry by storm. Requirements to reduce costs through maximized server utilization and minimized power consumption have converged to highlight the importance of virtualization in ways that could not have been imagined just a few years ago.

A number of large vendors (Citrix, VMware and Oracle/Sun Microsystems to name just a few) have entered the virtualization space either through product development or company acquisition. No entry into the market has been more widely anticipated, however, than the arrival of Microsoft's Hyper-V technology.

Released in 2008 and bundled at no extra charge with Windows Server 2008, Hyper-V has quickly gained widespread adoption and favorable reviews.

The subsequent introduction of Hyper-V 2008 R2 has introduced a number of new features, most notably support for live migration of Virtual Machines between Hyper-V hosts. This book has been fully updated to reflect the new features introduced in Hyper-V 2008 R2.

Hyper-V 2008 R2 Essentials is an in depth technical book designed teach IT staff and students about the implementation of virtualized environments using Hyper-V 2008 R2.

- An Overview of the Hyper-V 2008 R2 Architecture
